Logistics Tips & How it Works

Select the nights that you plan to use your gear. Your gear is guaranteed to arrive the night before your trip. Need support or have questions? Contact us 7 days a week between 10 am - 9 pm PST. Reach us at 213-534-8852 or hello@coozieoutdoors.com.

Los Angeles Orders:

Coozie can fulfill same-day orders for local LA orders if placed by 2 PM PST. Gear is delivered via courier to your door the night before your first rental day. Pickup is the last day of your rental between 6:30 - 9:00PM.

You can also select warehouse pickup and drop off at checkout. Warehouse pickup and drop off is by appointment only. After you place your order, a Coozie team member will be in touch to schedule your pickup and drop off. The earliest you can pick up your gear is 6 pm the night before your first rental day.

Shipping Orders:

If your order is to be shipped outside of LA, orders must be placed at least seven (7) days in advance to guarantee arrival by 8 PM the night before your first rental day. Shipping fees vary based on the weight of your total order. A free return shipping label is included with your shipping order. To return your gear, drop off at any FedEx location or drop box by 12:00 PM the day after their last rental day.

Tips for Selecting Tents

We recommend selecting one size up for car camping. That means selecting the 3-Person tent for 2 people or the 4-Person tent for 3 people. This will make for a more comfortable sleeping arrangement and allow space for bags in your tent. We recommend the 4-person or 6-person tent for families

All tents are waterproof and come with everything you need - footprint (the tarp that goes on the ground and under the tent body), stakes, poles, tent body and tent fly (the top part of the tent that provides extra warmth and privacy).

For most backpacking trips we recommend MSR backpacking tents. These tents are super lightweight and pack up into a ridiculously small bag. The 1-person MSR tent weighs 2 lbs 7 ounces and the 2-person MSR tent comes in at 3 lbs 7 ounces.

The Marmot 2-Person tent is the perfect backpacking tent for 1-2 night trips. It’s very easy to assemble and weighs 5 lbs 10 ounces.

The Marmot Thor 2-person tent is the tent you want to rent if you plan to camp in snow or wintery weather - it’s the perfect 4-season tent.

If there are 3 backpackers then we recommend the Marmot Ultra Light Tungsten 3-Person Tent. This tent weighs in at 4 lbs 5.5 ounces.

Tips for Sleeping Bags

Select your sleeping bag based on two factors - height and temperature.

Height

Women should select a Regular sleeping bag if you are shorter 5’10’’ and a Long sleeping bag if you are taller than 5’10’’. Men should select a Regular sleeping bag if you are under 6’1’’ and a Long sleeping bag if you are taller than 6’1’’. The Long sleeping bags can fit a person up to 6’6’’.

Temperature

Always select a sleeping bag with a rating that is lower than the expected temperature lows. For example, if the weather is expected to be a low of 40 degrees F then select a bag that is rated for 20 degrees F. You can unzip the sleeping bag for ventilation if you feel too warm during the night. If you run cold consider getting an even lower rating or add a Rumpl blanket to your trip to lay on top of your sleeping bag at night. Keep in mind that that the sleeping bag temperature rating is not a guarantee warmth rating. Always remember to check the weather and pack the appropriate clothes.

Note: The difference between women’s and men’s sleeping bags is that women’s bags are more narrow in the shoulders and wider in the hips. Women’s bags also tend to have slightly more insulation.

Tips for Selecting Sleeping Pads & Cots

Sleeping pads and cots are important for two reasons - comfort and warmth. Having a quality sleeping pad will provide you with a good night sleep and make you a happy camper in the morning. The pad also provides insulation to keep you warm from the cool ground at night. If you prefer to be elevated off the ground, consider renting a camping cot.

Sleeping Pads are important for two reasons - comfort and warmth. Renting a quality sleeping pad will provide you with a good night sleep and make you a happy hiker in the morning.

The Therm-a-Rest Apex Backpacking Sleeping Pad is the choice for backpackers who are heading out for a quick trip - generally 1-3 nights. It’s a tad heavier than the others but that weight comes with the added benefit of a foam pad that will provide you a very good night’s sleep.

Rent the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir UberLite Pad for those longer trips or if you want to keep pack weight down. This pad weighs a mere 8.8 ounces - making it the lightest and most insulated backpacking pad available.

If you are concerned about warmth then we recommend the Therm-a-Rest NeoAir xTherm Sleeping Pad. This pad has reflective layers that reflects heat back to your body and creates air pockets to store and conserve warmth. It’s the perfect 4-season backpacking pad.

The Helinox Chair One - Large fits most adults comfortably. Want more room? The Helinox Chair One - XL is just for you. Rent a camp table or two for food prep and playing cards after dinner. Don’t forget a hammock for naps during the day!

You don’t need much gear when backpacking but you can’t underestimate having a comfy chair to sit in after a long day of hiking. Rent a Helinox Chair Zero - it weighs just 1 lb and is smaller than a paper towel roll when packed.

Tips for Selecting Cooking Gear

We recommend selecting a 1-burner stove for 1-2 people or a 2-burner stove for more than 3 people. Add pots and pans to make cooking a breeze. Pots are meant for stove top cooking and cannot be used directly on campfires or grills.

Want to grill over the fire? The Wolf and Grizzly Grill Set is just for you.

The YETI coolers will keep your food and drinks cold for days. Choose a larger messenger-bag style or a smaller backpack cooler.

The MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe is the stove for backpackers. This little stove packs up into a small bag and is easy to assemble.

Next you need to consider what cooking pots you need. The Alpinist Two Cookware System is the perfect backpacking pot set for two. Backpacking for three? Rent the Flex 3 Cooking System - You get a mug! You get a mug! You get a mug! Want to skip the kitchenware and just eat out a pot? Snag the MSR Alpine 2 Pot Set. This is also a great option for the solo backpacker.
